Our client based in the West Midlands is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Character Artist to join their outstanding team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated team of talented developers and industry veterans.


Production, implementation and maintenance of character assets to project quality, specifications and style

Required skills:

Highly proficient in the creation of high quality highly stylised character assets through the use of Z-Brush, Maya, and Photoshop
Proven track record in the creation and implementation of in game characters
An understanding of anatomy, excellent organic modelling and an appreciation of how to build meshes that deform well when animated.
Ability to work to a defined art style, technical specifications and spirit of the project
Proactive in the translation and development of a character from brief or concept through to a quality finished in game product within a specified time frame.
Good aptitude for problem solving and self-starting with the ability to work with minimal direction
Ability to work collaboratively with a team of mixed disciplines, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A passion for producing games of exceptional calibre.

Beneficial knowledge:

Rigging experience
Character conceptual and paint over skills
Traditional art skills
Scripting & Shader knowledge
Ability to pose skinned characters to create presentation renders and turntables.
Experience with agile production methodologies
Experience with providing specifications and written feedback to external vendors

Demonstration of ability to model highly stylised character models with an emphasis on creative character design a major plus, we are particularly looking for:
Stylisation – portfolios that contain a high proportion of highly stylised assets and hand painted textures
Creativity and imagination – demonstration of the artist imagination and creativity in subject and its rendering
Fantastical – examples of a fantastical nature
Isolated renders/turntables of example work as well as translation from concept to model should be included
High resolution sculpt and breakdown of game topology models into wireframe, AO and final render as well as any additional specification information (software utilised and tri count)
