Technical Animator

Our client is currently seeking an experienced technical animator to work with their animation teams on exciting new game projects. Demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of animation systems the successful candidate will play a key role in the evolution of the animation pipeline meeting the demands of new projects and satisfying a high quality bar. This is a great opportunity to work within Europe's largest independent game developer using cutting edge technology to create highly successful game titles.

Responsibilities:

•Work with the animation leads to evolve and devise new animation solutions and pipelines for entire game projects

•Oversee the creation of character rigs and facial animation techniques

•Identify and address optimisations and efficiencies within the animation pipeline

•Collaborate with other discipline leads ensuring the animation solution meets the requirements of specific projects

•Share knowledge with internal and external teams through strong documentation and verbal communication skills

•Keep abreast of new technologies, innovations and processes, incorporating this knowledge to future systems where appropriate

•Work within the animation team on production animation tasks as well as proactively resolving technical animation issues

Skills:

•Outstanding knowledge of 3dMax

•Experience of coding 3dMax scripts, plugins, python or C++

•Experience of working on realistic animation projects with mo-cap data

•Passion for animation and able to produce realistic in-game animation where required

•Strong interest in technical animation

•Highly motivated, creative thinker who takes the initiative in solving problems and seeking improvements

•Knowledge of using a proprietary game engine such as Unreal an advantage

•Any experience or knowledge of outsourcing would also be a bonus

Experience:

At least 3 year's animation experience is required, ideally having worked as a technical games animator on at least one title.

Qualifications:

1st class or 2:1 degree in Digital Animation, Computer & Video Games, Computer Animation and Special Effects, or other animation education would be preferred, however candidates without higher academic qualifications are still encouraged to apply if they meet all the experience criteria.
