
Experienced Football MMOG Match Play Software Engineer
The Engineer is responsible for contributing a high quality of programming on their specific project and must be willing to take direction from the Lead Software Engineer/Technical Director regarding specific technical issues.
Main Accountabilities
The Engineer is responsible for reporting to the Lead Software Engineer/Sub-Lead Software Engineer, keeping them informed of technical progress as well as suggesting any improvements that will aid development.
A key aspect of this role is that the Engineer strives to improve their programming skill level and implement ways to push the features of football gameplay under direction from their Lead Software Engineer. A key requirement is that the Engineer loves everything about football from playing to watching and supporting – you must be a BIG FOOTBALL FAN!
The Engineer must also be able to work as part of a team and take advice from other Engineers who may have more experience in certain areas of programming, in relation to video game development.
The Engineer will work on supporting the requirements of the Game Development Team in the implementation and improvement of an MMOG Online Football MatchPlay system. This will typically involve translation of the requirements into gameplay rules and features that impact on aspects of game and the end-user experience. The Engineer should be well versed being able to translate these requests into tangible actions and features to implement.
Primary duties for this Engineer will be to improve and extend the MMOG Football MatchPlay system. This will require the Engineer to work closely with any and all members of the team ranging from those with highly detailed technical knowledge through to those that have little or no technical knowledge. The Engineer should be able to adapt their communication skills so they can engage with whomever they are dealing with in an appropriate manner. The Engineer will aim to work closely with all members of the Game Development Team to help to identify and implement compelling and worthwhile gameplay.
Assisting the Lead Engineer in the induction of newly hired Engineers as required, providing them with a complete overview and hands-on familiarisation of the company programming procedures prior to being assigned to a working team.
Skills & Knowledge
•High Level Computer Science, Maths or related Degree.
•Must possess a high level of programming skills - this is a crucial requirement. The Engineer must have a strong background in programming, ideally relating to video game development.
•Very strong C++ with exposure to Design Patterns, STL and solid engineering techniques.
•MUST have a STRONG interest in football – both able to play and happy to watch. Football is KING!!
•Strong mathematics skills.
•At least 1 published title.
•Experience with online title development is HIGHLY DESIRABLE.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Able to give and receive constructive feedback.
•Excellent organisational skills
•Excellent troubleshooting abilities and/or the resourcefulness to obtain solutions.
•Willing to learn and be open to new ideas. The candidate must be adaptable and be able to pick up new skills quickly.
•Video game experience – playing games as well as programming games. Preferably MMO types of games
