Sr. Environment Artist - World Renown Developer Posted Sep 25

Our client is a leading Australian independent development studio that works on cutting edge development on all next-generation consoles and most current gen consoles. Currently, they are seeking a Sr. Environment Artist who is passionate about creating games to join their world renown team.

Responsibilities:

•Model, texture and create collision in 3D for game environments.

•Ensure polygon counts and texture sizes are fully optimized for target platforms while minimizing any impact on artistic integrity of assets.

•Participates in R&D of new techniques to implement into production pipeline.

•Proactively seeks feedback from Lead Artist, Producer and Creative Director.

•Ensures that artistic style is consistent with defined visual style for the game.

•Ensure that personal work is meeting all standards (checking work, check-in procedures, build checklists etc)

•Use of ToDo – ensure all tasks are entered, time estimates are accurate and percentage complete updated regularly

•Perform additional tasks as required

Requirements:

•Modelling and texturing skills

•Quality of mesh and aware of mesh efficiency in game

•Works with programming team to correct problems and improve models

•Ability to follow concept art

•Fix problems and overcome technical issues

•Use of engine features

•Shown ability to improve the way meshes are built (optimization/speed to build etc)

•Understanding of lighting and vertex baking

Skills & Knowledge:

•Competent in MAYA or 3D Studio MAX

•A good understanding of the game production process

•Excellent written and oral English communication skills

•Ability to take direction

•Initiative

•Willingness to learn new techniques and skills

•Experience working on game titles from pre-production to final submission.

•Extensive experience in Environment Art role

•Tertiary education in a design discipline or demonstrated equivalent
