
GIS Software Engineer
Our client has a great opportunity for a GIS Software Engineer to work on their next ground breaking title. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Software Engineer looking for a challenging role that will require lateral thinking to develop solutions to novel Geographical Information Systems (GIS) data requirements working on extremely large data sets. This is an ideal opportunity for those wanting to make a career move from traditional software engineer to games development.
Responsibilities:
•Development of tools to process, convert and integrate multiple sources of GIS data.
•Development of data interoperability tools.
•Design and implementation of data workflow / pipeline.
•Programming tasks within a “rendered environment” team.
Knowledge/Skills Required
•Good BSc or equivalent in a relevant subject.
•At Least 3 years’ professional Software Engineer experience in a multidisciplinary team environment.
•Proven software engineering skill set (ability to design, implement and articulately discuss complex systems).
•Experience of development of reliable distributed data processing tools.
•Experience working with large datasets.
•Experience of working on or with geographic data and/or GIS systems.
•Experience of data interoperability and conversion
Knowledge/Skills in the following areas a plus:
•C++/C#/Python experience.
•Experience with ESRI ArcGIS (preferably ArcInfo)
•Experience of creating 3D visualizations and exporting to ‘non-GIS’ 3D file formats would be an advantage.
•Experience of XML-based data formats, especially GML
•Database experience (schema development, data management & SQL)
