
Server Programmer
An independent and privately-owned game development studio is committed to creating only AAA titles. Comprised of industry veterans with a shared passion for creating fun, innovative gameplay, Our client is now developing original properties for the next generation of cross-platform multiplayer games.
The Server Programmer will be responsible for heavily optimizing our existing Server Technology. He will generate and prototype new ideas and work closely with Gameplay Programmers and the Technical Director.
Qualifications
•Being an expert C/C++ programmer
•An excellent understanding of networking systems, including DNS, NAT, firewalls, security methods
•Experience in writing scalable, fault tolerant, and high-throughput networked 24/7 applications
•Experience of game-side network code such as addressing latency/lag, client-side prediction/correction issues.
•Experience in debugging/optimizing existent server technology
•A strong background in math
•Fluency in English
Requirements
•Advantageous Linux/FreeBSD experience. SQL experience.
•Experience in writing the support tools for networked 24/7 applications
•Experience with different MMO technologies and techniques
•Experience building robust, scalable backend systems
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively
•Ability to multi-task and to adapt easily to changes
•Excellent personal relationship skills
•Task driven, self motivated, excellent time management skills
Bonus
•Previous experience in online games
•Preferable (but not necessary to a talented, knowledgeable person) BA(BS) Degree
•Knowledge of the Unreal Engine 3
